We are back in white

Together with the Swedish REM straps, we introduce a new Speedmaster strap every month. Our ninth Speedmaster strap in 2023 is made for the Alaska Project.

Alaska Project

The Speedmaster Alaska Project goes back to the late 1960s, where Omega played with the idea (and prototypes) of creating a watch for NASA that would be even more protected to extreme temperatures. A white dial, to reflect heat from the sun, was just one of the features. The prototype also had a special adjusted 861 movement inside, to deal with the high temperatures. And on top, they made a big red anodized aluminium outer case for extra protection. In the end, several of these watches were used in space, but not by NASA. Instead, they ended up with cosmonauts who put them to use.

In 2008, Omega released the Speedmaster Alaska Project as a limited edition of 1970 pieces. It wasn’t a quick seller at first, but when the demand for Speedmasters became higher, they managed to sell them and subsequently the prices for these skyrocketed.

September Edition

This month’s strap goes perfectly well with that 2008 Speedmaster Alaska Project. However, it will also look great on other Speedmasters. Whether that’s the white dial Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award from 2015, the 1997 Speedmaster Albino, or a blue Gemini IV model from 2005, it will look fantastic. That being said, don't be afraid to wear it on a regular Speedmaster either. The white will really help bring our the deep black dial.

Omega never paid tribute the Saturn V rocket with one of their Speedmaster LEs, so we thought it would be appropriate to do so with one of our Fratello x REM straps. The Saturn V rocket is laser engraved on to the strap and the engraving is then filled with grey paint, applied by hand.

The straps measure 127 mm for the long part, and 74mm for the short part, excluding the buckle.

We offer fully-insured worldwide delivery on all purchases.

How is my order shipped?

Your order will be shipped via UPS Express Saver and is fully insured. UPS will try to deliver the shipment on three occasions. After that, the shipment may be returned to us.

Exact shipping times depend on the destination and customs. You can track you parcel using the tracking link provided to you.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Orders placed Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. CET to 5:00 P.M. CET may be edited or canceled within 1 hour of order placement (where possible) by emailing shop@fratello.com. Please note that changes or cancellations are not guaranteed. Those orders that are shipped before a cancellation has been confirmed, must be returned by the guidelines featured in our return policy.

What about pre-orders?

Should you change your mind after placing your order, Fratello will honor any cancellations and offer a full refund when the request is made before the pre-order window closes. Once the pre-order window is closed, all orders are final, and we are unable to cancel your order and offer a refund. All pre-ordered watches are bespoke and made-to-order, so the regular 14-day return window does not apply.
