Flying under the radar

For this month’s Fratello × REM strap, we took one of our team’s favourite Speedmaster references as a starting point. The Omega Speedmaster ’57 reference 3594.50 — also known as the Broad Arrow — officially debuted in 1997 as the Speedmaster ’57 Replica. This watch flew under the radar for many years, but recently, it seems to be receiving some well-deserved attention.

Definitely not a replica  

It's an interesting watch because it’s not a true copy — or replica — of the original CK2915. That very first reference from 1957 had a smaller case without crown guards and measured 38.6mm wide instead of 42mm like the 3594.50. Nothing is the same as the CK2915 when looking at all the details; it was just the style of the watch that was mimicked with this Replica edition from 1997 to 2003. Why Omega used the word "Replica" for this watch remains a mystery.

An ode to the original strap

The original brown strap looked pretty amazing on the watch, but they are unfortunately not available anymore. This inspired us to come up with a brown strap for this watch but with a little twist. We thought it would be fun to engrave the text “This is not a replica” in a military-style font (hinting at the broad arrow as a military symbol). The long side of the strap has the characteristic Broad Arrow hour hands engraved on it.

We love to match a dark dial with a brown strap because the contrast created really makes the dial pop. Although we intended this strap to be be worn with reference 3594.50, this is a very universal strap that will be sure to look great on any Speedmaster. 

The Specs

  • The straps measure 127 mm for the long part, and 74mm for the short part, excluding the buckle.
  • Fits 20mm lugs
  • All straps come on a 18mm Fratello-signed buckle.

 

How quickly are orders processed?

Where can I find my invoice?

You will automatically receive a copy of your invoice via email after completing your order. If it's been more than 24 hours and you still haven't received your invoice, feel free to email us at shop@fratello.com to make sure your order was successful. Please also check your spam folder in case it has accidentally landed there.

Do you ship internationally?

We offer fully-insured worldwide delivery on all purchases.

Please note that for shop purchases, Fratello is required to declare the retail value of the timepiece or item(s) in the shipment. International shipments may be subject to import fees upon arrival in the destination country; any importation fees or taxes are the sole responsibility of the customer.

Please note that for all shop purchases, Fratello is required to declare the full retail value of the timepiece or item(s) in the shipment. We are unable to under-declare shipment values.

How is my order shipped?

Your order will be shipped via UPS Express Saver and is fully insured. UPS will try to deliver the shipment on three occasions. After that, the shipment may be returned to us.

Exact shipping times depend on the destination and customs. You can track you parcel using the tracking link provided to you.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Orders placed Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. CET to 5:00 P.M. CET may be edited or canceled within 1 hour of order placement (where possible) by emailing shop@fratello.com. Please note that changes or cancellations are not guaranteed. Those orders that are shipped before a cancellation has been confirmed, must be returned by the guidelines featured in our return policy.

What about pre-orders?

Should you change your mind after placing your order, Fratello will honor any cancellations and offer a full refund when the request is made before the pre-order window closes. Once the pre-order window is closed, all orders are final, and we are unable to cancel your order and offer a refund. All pre-ordered watches are bespoke and made-to-order, so the regular 14-day return window does not apply.
