From the Moon to Mars

The Speedmaster Professional “From the Moon to Mars” was introduced at Baselworld 2004, by no other than astronaut Eugene Cernan, and Swatch Group CEO Nicolas Hayek. Interestingly enough, it was not limited but numbered and only in production from 2004 till 2012. According to Moonwatch Only, the production ceased in 2012 when more than 6000 watches were produced.

A welcome splash of color

On the dial of the watch, you will find images of the Earth, Moon, and Mars. It seems Omega wanted to be on top of the game when NASA would head for manned space missions to Mars. The printing of the planets brings a welcome splash of color to the dial. You will also find that some of these watches have discolored over time, giving each watch its own unique color tone. On the case back, there’s the standard “Flight-Qualified by NASA for all manned space missions” engraving, but “From the Moon to Mars” has been added on the lower half, followed by the unique number.

 

In 2018, we published an in-depth article on this Speedmaster “From the Moon to Mars” watch in this article on Fratello Magazine. Prices have gone up a bit since then, and what we have here is an unworn example from 2007.

Number 1343, reporting for duty

This particular watch we offer here in the Fratello Shop is numbered 1343 and has been sold on September 11th, 2007. There’s even a hand-written note from the owner of the authorized Omega dealer who sold this watch, to congratulate the new owner with his purchase and that he should take note that it is a hand-wound watch. How things change in a relatively short time, such a note wouldn’t be necessary anymore today, with all the common knowledge on the Speedmaster.

The watch comes with the famous red leather box (in good condition), white cardboard box, and the red Omega instruction manual, a white leather cardholder with International Warranty Card, as well as the pictograms card.

Condition

When buying pre-owned, the condition is key. That’s what we fully understand here at Fratello, as we are collectors ourselves for many years (decades). This Speedmaster Professional reference 3577.50 is in immaculate condition. You can either keep it as a safe queen but you could also be the first one to wear it and create your own history with the watch. Even though there are 6000 of these watches produced, there are only a few out there on offer today that are in the same condition as this one.

Your order will be shipped via UPS Express Saver and is fully insured. UPS will try to deliver the shipment on three occasions. After that, the shipment may be returned to us.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Orders placed Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. CET to 5:00 P.M. CET may be edited or canceled within 1 hour of order placement (where possible) by emailing shop@fratello.com. Please note that changes or cancellations are not guaranteed. Those orders that are shipped before a cancellation has been confirmed, must be returned by the guidelines featured in our return policy.

What about pre-orders?

Should you change your mind after placing your order, Fratello will honor any cancellations and offer a full refund when the request is made before the pre-order window closes. Once the pre-order window is closed, all orders are final, and we are unable to cancel your order and offer a refund. All pre-ordered watches are bespoke and made-to-order, so the regular 14-day return window does not apply.
