We love watches that have a good story. And that’s the case with the Fortis Official Cosmonaut Chronograph we have here. In 1994, Fortis became the official cosmonaut’s watch. First only for the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, and since 2001 also with the Russian space agency Roscosmos.
You can find some interesting videos on YouTube, like this one here, where you can see the Fortis chronograph on board the International Space Station. Fortis’ chronograph was also used during the spacewalk of the MIR-18 crew (Vladimir Dezhurov and Gennadi Strekalov) on May 12, 1995.
Used By Russian Cosmonauts
Besides a good space story, the Fortis Official Cosmonauts Chronograph in steel is also an impressive watch on the wrist. Although the official size is 44mm (as can be seen in the specification overview), it actually wears a bit small. The case size is 42mm, but the diameter of the bezel is 44mm. So even if your wrists aren’t that large, the Official Cosmonaut Chronograph will be a comfortable watch to wear.
